SUMMARY
The story starts when Yusuke got killed while saving a child.
He meets Botan, the spirit guide and takes him to Koenma,
the son od Enma Daiou, the ruler of Rei Kai. He was given
another chance to come back to life but he must do good deeds.
The good deeds will reflect on the egg given to him by Koenma.
If he does bad things, the creature from the egg will grow
up and eat his soul. Yusuke had thrown away the egg on the
fire to save Keiko because she was also doing the same thing
(saving Yusuke's body) and because they love each other.It
proved that Yusuke had a good heart and so, he came back to
life through the energy given by Keiko through the mouth.Yusuke's
first mission was to retrieve the 3 artifacts/treasures(orb
w/c steals children's soul; mirror w/c can grant any wish
in return of a life; sword w/c can cut anything ang makes
it a beast) of the Rei Kai from the three notorious thieves.
Kurama helped Yusuke because he was returning the favor Yusuke
did. His second mission was to join Genkai's successor tournament.
This is where Kuwabara discovers that he had a Rei Ken. Yusuke
must win and inherit Genkai's powers and to stop Rando from
doing evil. Yusuke's third mission was to go to the 4 Holy
monsters and get the whistle that directs insects. The monsters
had a challenge and that they wanted to take over the Ningen
Kai so, they sent insects that possess human to destroy each
other and to have total chaos.
His 4th mission was to rescue an
ice miden from the hands of bad guys who kidnapped her to
make gems (pearls) through her tears. Yusuke and Kuwabara
are against the Taguro brothers. Yusuke and Kuwabara won
because it was a plan of Sakyo. Then, few days have passed
and there was no trouble, Taguro appeared and Yusuke was
shocked to see him alive. They went in an old building and
Toguro showed Yusuke his incredible strenght by knocking
the walls and by destroying the whole building. Taguro wants
Yusuke to participate in a tournament being held at Ma Kai.
Yusuke, Kuwabara, Kurama, Hiei and a masked man (fukumen)
will join as participants of the Ningen Kai. They even wondered
about the masked man because the fighting abilities are
of similar to of Genkai. Yusuke fell asleep until his battle
with Chu because he had a very hard training. The Urameshi
Team qualified until the finals. Genkai (the masked) passed
most of her powers to Yusuke. Because of that Genkai died
fighting Toguro. She died right before Yusuke's eyes which
made him very furious. Koenma substituted for Genkai and
became the fifth member. During Kuwabara's battle with the
older Toguro, the thing about the past was brought. Genkai
and Toguro were partners long ago in the same tournament.
They both won. Toguro changed and wanted to become really
strong that he sold his soul for strenght.Yusuke saw how
Kuwabara died because Taguro provoked him to show his strenght.Yusuke
won the battle exceeding the 100% power of Toguro and the
whole dome was destroyed.Then, Kuwabara laughs at Yusuke,
we see here that Kuwabara didn't really die. As the gang
are going to leave the island, Genkai appeared and they
were surprised and happy.(Note:The champion of the tournament
can have his wish granted)
Right after they defeated the Toguro
Team at the Ankoku Bujutsukai, another challenge awaited
yusuke and the gang. Botan told Yusuke that there are humans
who possess supernatural powers. Someone who had inherited
Sakyo's ambition to attempt to entrap humankind to a panic
came out. He tricked Shinobu Sensui, a former detective
of the psychic world, and was about to widen the border
tunnel so that the S-Level psychic beings (who are far more
powerful than the Toguro Team) could enter freely into the
humanworld. Yusuke and the gang joined with new friends
whose supernatural power was awakened. Kuwabara was kidnapped
so that Sensui's plan will succeed. He needed someone who
has the ability to produce the dimension sword which can
cut through anything even the border tunnel. Yusuke died
again while fighting the 7 personalities of Sensui. Yusuke's
power became even more powerful and it reflected on the
other half of Yusuke--Puu. Puu became a very huge bird because
of Yusuke's power. Yusuke and the gang followed Sunsui in
Ma Kai to battle him. Yusuke was surprised that someone
had possessed him that he defeated Sensui. His hair had
grown and had marks on his face and chest and he became
really powerful. Yusuke didn't like this--someone used his
body--it was not his real strenght.
Yusuke wasn't contented having a
simple life without fighting, he didn't like the way he
won in his last fight. He tells his thoughts to Koenma and
Koenma told him to go to Genkai. Genkai advises him to talk
to Mariko Sato. Genkai said that Yusuke doesn't need to
practice with her because he is strong enough and if he
wants to destroy the whole planet she can't forbid him.
Mariko might be of help to him. Yusuke goes to Mariko's
house and in the middle of the way he meets 2 children:
Kaisei and Fubuki. The 2 attacks Yusuke and Yusuke did was
to avoid the attacks. The two decide to use the spiritual
power, but Mariko appears and tells them to stop. Yusuke
stayed there till the evening talking to her and the two
drunked kids. She tells Yusuke that her maiden name is Mariko
Sanada and that she abandoned her job as Reikai detective
in order to get married. And now she is having a great and
peaceful life. She asks her husband (Sato) to read his hand
and tell the future. He says that danger is coming after
him. Suddenly 3 demons appear in front of Mariko's house.
They are Towo, Hokushin and Seitei. The 3 monsters identify
themselves as S and A class monsters. They came from the
Makai to take Yusuke with them. Yusuke asks them how did
they came to the Ningenkai if they are upper level monsters.
They say that they can reduce their power to a D level power
(the same as Toguro). They explain that the Makai is in
war, and Raizen (Yusuke's father - ancestor) is dying. Raizen
is one of the most powerful demons and there are two more
who together with him rule the demon world. They are Yomi
and Mokuro. Raizen is not eating humans, he hasn't been
eating humans for a 1000 years, now he is starving, and
he wants his son to take over after he dies and against
the other 2 who wants to take over the Makai. They go outside
the house, Yusuke wants to test the monster's power. One
of the monsters says that even with his power reduced to
the D level, he will win. The monster runs above Yusuke,
and Yusuke realizes that the monster is kind of slow. The
monster stretches his head and ties Yusuke with it. Yusuke
is not able to move. He gets a knife and stabs Yusuke's
heart. The villain starts laughing and shows Yusuke that
the knife is a toy and Yusuke beats the monster. Yusuke
told the monster to tell everything.
Yusuke decides to go to the Makai.
He has only one week in the Ningenkai. He tells Keiko about
his plans. She leaves Yusuke alone. He passes through Kuwabara's
house. He is studying very hard to pass on his tests. Then
he goes to Keiko's father restaurant. Yusuke ordered food
and Keiko cooked for him. He tells her that in 3 years he
will be back and he will marry her. Keiko respoded saying
she is going to study in an all girls school, and near this
school there is an all boys school. She says that in 3 yearsmany
things can happen and change. The day had come, Yusuke is
leaving. Kurama and Hiei told the rest of the group that
they are also leaving to go to Makai, because they were
invited by Yomi and Mokuro to join them. Kurama was invited
by his old friend Yomi, and Hiei was invited by the mysterious
Mokuro. The special soldiers (Defense Unit) from the Rei
Kai had come to open the hole between the two worlds. Enma
Daioh gave permission to the soldiers to open the gate,
so that Yusuke, Kurama and Hiei won't cause any trouble
in the Human World. Koenma tells George Saotome that no
one knows that Enma Daioh had given this permission. Kuwabara
doesn't want Yusuke to leave. He screams and yells at Yusuke
but he is not able to change Yusuke's mind. Botan cries
out.
Yusuke arrives in Makai. 3 soldiers
appear to take Yusuke to Raizen's castle. They run for 4
days without rest to go to the castle. There Yusuke meets
his father, Raizen who is dying of starvation. The noise
of his stomach can be heard miles away. Yusuke realizes
that Raizen is the guy who took over his body and killed
Sensui. He gets angry and tells his father that he is going
to kill him. However Raizen is very strong, Yusuke is unable
to hit him. Raizen tells Yusuke that he has 2 choices: leave
or practice with him. He stays and and starts practicing
against Hokushin and the others.
Meanwhile Hiei arrives and Mokuro
leaves him in a room where he has to fight against 500 monsters.
He kills them all and Mukuro makes him fight against Sigure
who was the guy who did the surgery on Hiei. At that time
Hiei proved to him that he was able to have the Jagan implanted
in him. The fight ended with Hiei without an arm and Sigure
without a head.Mukuro brought them back to life and Hiei
stays as a right hand with Mukuro. Kurama thinks about his
past and about his family. He sees is brother possessed
by a monster who wants to frame him but he scares him. Kurama
also gets to the Makai. He becomes one of the right hands
of Yomi, It is revealed that Kurama was the one who sent
a monster to kill Yomi. That's how Yomi got blind. Kurama
calls 6 powerful warriors to join Yomi's group: Jin, Touya,
Chu, Rinku, Shishiwakamaru and Suzuki. They train with Kurama
for 6 months with Genaki supervising them. Yusuke gets stronger
and wants to fight against Raizen again. But Raizen is starving
to death, he tries to eat Yusuke, but comes back to reality.
He tells the truth about his eating strike (about Yusuke's
real mother) and then he dies. Some of Raizen's friends
came to mourn with him. Enki, a big monster with 2 horns
appeared with a green haired woman and many more friends
of Raizen came.Yusuke goes to meet Yomi with a proposal.
He wants to make a tournament where everybody is normal.
The winner of the tournament will rule Ma Kai for 3 years.
Kurama and the others eavesdrop and they discuss to a point
whose side will they take. They agreed to take Yusuke's
side.
The tournament begins with the match
between Yomi and Shura. The most important match in the
first round. Yomi wins after a difficult match. Jin, Toya,
Chu, Suzuki, Rinku and Shishiwakamaru lost their matches
in the second round. Kurama fights against Sigure in a match
which shows the real love Kurama feels for his family. He
wins by making beautiful trees grow. But after that he has
no energy left so he is unable to participate in the next
match. Hiei faces Mukuro. The fight is difficult and Hiei
uses his most powerful weapon: the Ensatsu Kokuryuha. However,Mukuro
is more powerful and is able to prevent the dragon to hit
her. She beats Hiei and he gives up. Mukuro also fights
against Natsume and wins, but she has no energy left so
she doesn't pass through the next enemy. Yusuke also has
a hard time. He has the match against. Yomi. They fight
for a long time, and Yusuke shows that he still have some
spiritual energy left. He also lost. Yomi is without energy
so he also lost the following match. So after the strongest
people had lost, Enki one of Raizen's old friend won the
tournament. So, Enki ruled Ma Kai.
In the end, Kurama and Yusuke went
back to the Ningenkai. Yusuke and Keiko got together. Kurama
started working in a company with his stepfather. Hiei stays
working for Mukuro. His job is to protect the humans who
get lost in Ma Kai and bring them back to Ningen Kai. Genkai
gives the Temple to the gang so they can practice and take
care of it
when she dies. Kuwabara studied to get into college.
